Gratitude – Thank You

Quiet speaking moments of revelation.  I was send this video from a friend via facebook and I’m sure it’s flying around the world on its own, however I was so touched by its simplicity that I felt compelled to share it here.

Gratitude can be expressed in so many ways but the most simple is to say Thank You, even if it is silently within your own heart.

Joe Vitale suggests a mantra of “I love You, I’m Sorry, Please Forgive Me, Thank You” It’s a powerful process to go through and moves such negativity from within yourself and within your relationships.  I can see that Thank You alone can be such a transforming things to say.  Give it a try – I am about to embark on a Thank You Quest into acceptance of ‘what is’ in my life.

What a way to end a year.  Even if I remember this only one time every day then I can already feel its impact on my life.
Namaste – Thank you – Blessings All

The meaning of life

This says it all I think.

Sometimes I come across something that really touches my heart. This post is one such thing. Simple and pure it speaks of our experience and offers each one of us something simple and practical to help us move forward. Simple and practical however, is not always easy and habits of old and of ego will jump in front of our attempts to change and to heal.

Mindfulness meditation is however a simple and profoundly powerful tool for peace, for change and for healing. Stay resolute, stay respectful of your need to embrace that which hurts you. May you find the place where the waters of your depths wash away your tears.

Thich Nhat Hanh on Healing the Wounded Child in Us From the great heart of the Buddha, and from the great heart of Thich Nhat Hanh, to the wounded child in each of us: “In our childhood we may have been through stages of great difficulties. We have been wounded, we have had traumas and we generally do not want to remember those stages of suffering. In us there is a protective defense mechanism, we want to defend ourselves against our suffering. Every time we are in touch with the experience of su … Read More

What Do You Really Need?

Two or three times today I’ve had this message very clearly placed right into the centre of my conscious awareness.

It was a comment on Facebook, it was a video on YouTube (the Universe is getting very savvy with modern technology) :-)

I’ve been quietly beginning to worry about “stuff” recently and via some amazing people I’ve been getting the reminder that … well… What do I really, really need? What is really, really important? Not Stuff.

Know That You Are Loved… Always.

The Truth Never Gets Old!

Taking Back Control

We all realise by now that our energy follows our attention and if we are feeling scattered or tired or overwhelmed, we need to take a look at where our attention is really focused.

In the previous post I talked about some of the things I unconsciously and consciously did to begin taking back control of where I was “spending” my energy.

It really helped me to think about myself in terms

of where I was choosing to “spend” myself.

If you think about yourself as a resource (like money or water or clean air for example) it can help you get a bit of a handle on how important it is to take good care of yourself and do things that will not deplete your mind, your body or your spirit. That being said, sometimes we just have to get involved with stuff that is going to wear us out, drag us down or put pressure on even the most positive intentions we might hold for ourselves.

It’s in times like these that a few reminders are useful and I’ve listed a few of the things that work for me below.

First, I meditate every single day.

  • This is such a gift in my life and although I say I do it everyday, it’s not always an amazing experience filled with joy and insight.
  • However, it is always regenerative to my mind, my body and most certainly my spirit.
  • I highly recommend it to you.

Secondly, I severely limit my exposure to stuff that I know is going to fill my mind and my sense of wellbeing will negativity.

  • That includs a daily dose of “news” from the television, radio and newspapers. I generally find that I can keep up with the big ‘news’ without immersing myself in it every day.
  • Recently I fell into the habit of watching the evening news every day and after only about a week I found myself feeling very different. My anxiety levels were higher, my frustration with politicians was higher, my fear levels…. you get the picture. I’m breaking that habit right away because I can see clearly that this is NOT serving me well and I just know that my level of resonace was dropping towards fear instead of hovering around Love.

Finally, cultivating a level of awareness about yourself is a vital tool in your journey towards taking back control of your attention, where your energy goes and what vibration (energy pattern) you wish to send out into the world.

  • I look upon my level of vibration as my energy signature – it tells the world and the universe who I am, how I am and what it is I wish to experience in my reality.
  • The stuff in the papers, magazines and on the TV is usually exactly NOT what I want to experience or to share with anyone I love.

Meditation, awareness and exercising your right to choose where you give your attention will help you create a new reality, a new resonance for your life. How creative can you be? How much difference can you make to your world? How much richer can your life become as you consciously choose to lift your body, mind and spirit as high as you can.

Many blessings to you and those you love.

Conscious Awareness: Pay Attention To Your Attention

When talking about resonance (see previous post) I’ve been coming to realise more and more that the old saying “Your Energy Flows Where Your Attention Goes” is just as important as your vision for yourself.

What do I mean by that?

Well, think about it. When you fall in love, where is your attention? On the object of your affection right? Absolutely. Where is all your energy going? Same place! That’s a pretty obvious example and I was wondering if it applies most or all of the time.

Let’s take a look at some other scenarios:

  • You have an exam coming up and you really, really, really want to get a good mark. Where is your attention? Does all your energy go there too?
  • You’ve been caught out doing something you shouldn’t do and tomorrow, someone wants to talk to you about it. Where is all your energy tonight? Yes it seems to work here too.
  • Your child is ill. Really ill and you sit by the bed, listening to them struggle. They have your attention and you are as exhausted as they are.

I think we can see that when the stakes are high, this old adage really seems to work. I also choose to think that it works even when things don’t appear to be so critical we just don’t take the same notice of it and that is where some of our difficulties begin.

When we set a goal, make a promise to ourselves to quit something or do something (smoking, drinking, exercise… you know the kind of stuff I mean) we really focus our attention (and our energy) on it and make a commitment to ourselves. However, over time our attention wanders to other matters, other people, other problems and we begin to give our energy to these other things.

We’ve stepped out of the flow of our initial intention, given our attention to something else and the wheels fall off the original plan. The goal is never reached, the habit is never broken, our problems remain unsolved. It’s interesting isn’t it?

So given that there appears to be a correlation between intention, attention, energy (resonance) it becomes really important for us to remember to remember what it is we want to achieve or who it is we really are.

  • My personal desire in writing this blog has been to share what I have learned (and continue to discover) about the path my journey has taken as I really focus on my continuing evolution as human being.
  • My discovery of my intensely spiritual nature combined with my absolute desire to make a difference of some kind on this wonderful planet. I’ve chosen the sharing of wisdom – mine and others – as my vehicle.
  • Thus far, the development of practices that sustain me has been the most effective things as I discovered as a way of maintaining my focus (attention) on my desire.
  • Connection with my higher sense of myself through meditation, care of my physical being by eating pure food and drinking pure water, daily exercise (I love walking and yoga), connection with a community of like minded people (both in the real world and online), continuing education (books, courses, e-courses).

You’ve heard all of that before I’m sure.

What you may not have heard though is to NOT give your attention and thus your energy to things that do not sustain you.

  • I read only the weekend papers these days. After years of reading a daily dose of “news” about crime, terror, lies and corruption, I decided to just do a weekly update. I’m pretty fussy about what I read, even then. My attention is no longer held by the sensationalism and rubbish usually filling the pages of many so called “newspapers”.
  • Add to that all those trashy magazines I used to read – no more.
  • Even my television viewing habits have changed radically. I know the big stuff going on in the world. I know the important stuff. I don’t care about the rest, the do not sustain me. I no longer give my attention and energy to them. We no longer resonate and my life is to much the better for it.

Of course, this didn’t happen over night. It wasn’t even difficult, it came really naturally as the evolution of my consciousness continued. I have no idea what my next “thing’ will be but I know when it comes, it will be as natural as breathing.

You are free to choose in every minute of every single day of your life what you are going to give your attention to. What we all need to remember is that once something has our attention, it also has our energy – it affects our energy, our vibration, our resonance, for better or for worse. We will be raised up or we will be pulled down. It’s always up to us.

I hope this helps with something in your life.

Have a wonderful, wonderful day.
