We are halfway through the year! Where did that go? Did you pencil in a short time to review how all those goals you set at the beginning of the year were progressing? No, I didn’t either.
Fortunately for all of us, Shaun happened to listen to a podcast recently on the topic of evaluating where you are in terms of what you are attempting to achieve, what needs to change? Goals Setting and Outcomes. As a result of that conversation we have been discussing the why and how of goal setting and how you can balance the various layers that go into successful goal achievement.
We decided it was a matter of balance.
- Balance between what we think we want and what we really need.
- Balance between the reasons we think we want them and how we feel about them deep inside, our inner knowing around the goals we are setting.
We decided that the key understanding here was to be aware that we are setting and achieving goals all the time – if we do it unconsciously, we may not be happy with the result. So conscious goal setting, teamed with inner wisdom appears to be a way forward for those of us who may not have had the success we would like in past attempts at achieving our goals.
Hope you enjoy our ramblings and meanderings and please, feel free to jump right in.

Cate, your posting here is both profound and sorely needed in a time when a lot of “conscious” people are taken up by “The Secret” and the idea that anything we want in life (especially financial and materialistic goals), we can have and should go after.
It amazes me that a google search for “goal setting” pulls up more than 5.3 million results yet a search for “wise goal” at this moment only pulls up about 1600 results… so we might say that setting a “wise goal” is only 0.03% of what the “goal setting” world is writing/thinking about!
I’d love to read more of your thoughts regarding how to tap into one’s wise and spiritual intuition about what a wise goal is. How do we set a goal that balances/aligns the belief that “we can do anything we set our minds and hearts to” and the wisdom of setting goals that are healthy, sustainable, and serves the highest good?

Thank you for your kind words George and I totally understand what you mean. I’ll set my mind to finding some response to your question(s) because they are so important. Initially I think the words integrity and value come to mind so keep an eye on the blog! Wonderful to meet you.
